??? :?

The second day of this festival (08.11.09 - Sirenia, Soulgrind, Apparition, etc.) is supposed to be happening at Chinnerys, Southend but it's also listed on the events page of another venue:-
http://www.peelmuzik.com/ (November Events)

Whats goin' on then? Is this an old entry in need of removing?
or is it a recent entry with a venue-change anouncement due shortly from the gig promoter?

I'd be 'c**k-a-hoop' if it has moved to The Peel as it gives me a fighting chance of getting to it. :D

I was told that it's changed venues, so I guess The Peel is where it's being held now. I have to do some searching for it.

Yep, confirmation just received from FemmeMetal.Net:-

Due to a huge demand we have moved the 2nd day of the festival to London to The Peel venue. We were told of how many people had difficulties finding a way to get to the previous venue in Southend.

Obviously the move isn't going to be to every one's liking and some people may not be able to make it to London. If this is the case and you have already purchased a ticket for this day you will be issued a full refund at your request.

If you have purchased a ticket for the previous venue and would still like to attend then that ticket will be valid for the new venue in London.

That was the good news! Now the bad news is that this new venue is alot smaller so if you haven't got your tickets yet i recommend you do so as soon as possible!!

Also this venue is a 17+ venue whereas the previous venue was 16+ so anyone who has purchased tickets but is not of the required age please get in contact asap!

And so you know where to come here's the new venue's website:

http://peelmuzik.webeden.co.uk

If you have any questions about this matter please don't hesitate to reply, any feedback about this is most welcome, good and bad!!!

I'm sure fans based near Southend are delighted with that. The Peel is a smaller venue too. This promoter just makes it up as they go along, it's a bloody farce. Having said that, doesn't affect me, i'll be watching Pythia!

I agree totally - couldnt organise a pissup in a brewery.

Changing the venue at this late date is going to annoy people who booked accomodation or travel to Southend or because its convenient.
Kingston isnt much better though for travel - for most people its a case of go into London then out again. A central london location is by far the best and there are plenty of places around Camden etc of a suitable size.

Still, as Tom says - I'm off to see Pythia that night (and they can organise a pissup in a brewery - or anywhere else) :D

I haven't said it publically before now but after the farce of the mini tour and now this, I will be staying well clear of anything Caz and Femme Metal have to do with as they seem to be unable to organise anything properly. It's a disgrace for the fans and the bands as the events are poorly advertised and tbh, I see the whole Femme Metal site as a joke. The reviews are barely reviews and half the forum is deader than a dodo. I wish I could be nice about it all but it's getting a bit silly now.

For the record, I've organised gigs and I know it's not easy but there are simple rules for them to at least have a chance of being successful and changing venue at the last minute is not normally one of them

She was asking on Facebook if more people would have been interested in the 2nd day of the festival if it had been in London. I presumed she was asking for future reference, not to change it this time! As you say, stay well clear in future.

Maybe next year it'll be better organized. The changes could've been worse though.

Does anybody know how long the Femme Metal Festival has been going on? - because this is the first year I've heard of it.

Ooh, cool. - I bet next year's will be improved, with no venue change. Assuming there'll be one next year!

As it says on the website "We are no longer accepting requests from bands to play this year's festival but we will keep you informed as to when we will be accepting requests for next year!"

It was my idea actualy to move the show because ticket sales were very bad. We couldnt have Sirenia and 2 other bands from overseas playing in a half empty venue. All overseas bands apart from Delain and Sirenia have to pay for the trip themselves and Caz hasn't so far made the money back she payed Sirenia, so we had to try and do something about it. Caz has made a deal with the people who bought tickets for southend.
Please remember she is paying for the fest out of her own money and is taking a big risk. I advise her on things having promoted 2 Dames of darkness fests on my own and I stand by this decision.
With regards to the mini tour I agree there should have been posters at the venues and she should have sent the Demonic and Divine cd's earlier but the promoting was down to the bands too. The tour was about the DaD cd but all bands used it to sell their own merch too including us (Apparition).
It is not Caz's job to promote our bands, we don't pay her to do that job, its up to us. Bands should do this by adding people on myspace etc or if we play a big gig ie Bloodstock or Tarja we should hand out a flyer with our website details to anyone interested. They check us out at home and if they decide they do like us they add us. Then it is down to the bands to tell these people about upcoming gigs etc. I don't think even if there was posters in the venue it would have made too much of a difference because I for one have never decided to leave the house to see a band I had never heard of. But yeah there should have been posters but to say Caz didnt promote it is rubbish because I saw plenty of event invites and bulletins.

I can understand the logic in moving the festival from Southend to London to help boost sales. I know festival organising is a risky business so can understand wanting to boost sales.

Re the tour, as a way to promote the DaD CD, it was a total failure. I'd bet that the vast majority of people who went didnt know anything about the CD - they went because of the bands playing. The lack of CD's on sale, or even any flyers for femme metal and the CD was a real failure on her part.
Posters in venues would have at least made more people aware that the gigs were happening. All the bands advertised it on myspace etc, but if you havent joined a bands mailing list or myspace then you wouldnt have known that anything was happening.
I think that unless you were a myspace or facebook friend of the bands playing the tour then you wouldnt have known about it - unless you saw one of the many flyers handed out by Pythians.

In comparison, promoters for other small festivals have been far more active in visiting music forums (e.g. Download and Bloodstock) and making people there aware of the festivals - that way they reach a wide audience and hopefully sell more tickets. Relying on people joining a bands myspace really limits the amount of people who will hear about the tours and festival.

I think Carrie has bitten off more than she can handle - she doesnt seem to have the experience, or the time needed to promote the tour or festival to the extent required.

The Festival doesnt really bother me, as we'll be with Threshold anyway that night, but with regards to the 'tour', if Caz wanted to promote the cd, its in her interests to get people through the door. Sadly by the time we realised that nowt had been done, it was too late for Brighton and Manchester, however, we sent posters to Norwich and people turned up. It wasnt rammed but a reasonable crowd, we sold merch, people were there in our tshirts, and I'm sure the other bands would agree it was the best show of the tour. Nice little venue too. Definitely will return at some point.
