This I do agree with. Cristina is a darling too, I just wish she'd leave off some of the Americanism's of metal she seems to have picked up.

if Cristina had a beard, it'd be a whole different story! - actually, I think everybody would amazed if she grew a beard.

Not quite sure why I said that...

Not true, i love Within Temptation (last 2 albums), Early Nightwish, Lullacry, Dark Moor etc
I liked earlier Lacuna Coil but i dont think much of the newer stuff, i have no probs with bands 'selling out' and going all American sounding as long as its done well and has good songs.
I dont like or dislike bands for any reason other than songs, doesnt matter to me of the singer is a gothic godess or some hairy biker dude, its all about songs to me.
Fall out boy have some great songs! so do Braindrill! thats why i listen to all ends of the musical spectrum, but dont specifically love or hate and genre, its all depends on good songs to me.

I heard the album last night. I've definitely heard better! Spellbound was probably the best song there in my opinion. Maybe i'll have to give it a 2nd listen.

Cristina would probably be in my top 10.

(Sorry if I've offended you, by the way, I was joking around)

I do agree with all of that you've just said, though, my music taste is all over the place. It's the best way to be if you ask me. I do wonder why you only like the last two albums from Within Temptation though. :P

HaHa! nah i know u were only (half) joking but just wanted to put my point across, i'm v passionate about music, songwriting, production etc so cant help myself but dive headfirst into any discussion regarding likes/dislikes.
And regarding within temptation, i only have Heart of everything, Silent force and Mother earth and dont think much of Mother earth, i know loads of people seem to love it but doesnt do anything for me, vocals are too kate bush (not a big fan of that 'wacky' style)and the production/songs really do nothing for me, ice queen is ok but i think the band have improved massively with each album since, vocally, songwriting, lyrics, production etc. Just my opinion (but if u disagree u are wrong!) ;-)

I agree regarding Within Temptation. I think they've got better with every album and the early stuff was pretty patchy.

I love early Within Temptation. Enter is a superb album in my opinion.

I prefer Mother Earth and Enter to The Silent Force and The Heart of Everything, but I still love each album, hey are all brilliant and have their own style. I think TSF is the best lyrically, hence why I have a WT tattoo with a lyric on my arm :P

I agree that the Silent Force album has the best lyrics (What lyrics do you have on your arm?) I only love certain songs from the Mother Earth album too, mostly all of them... And The Heart of Everything - all the songs on there are awesome! Especially Hand of Sorrow!

I definitely think that their music continues to get better with each album! I just hope it'll carry on like that with their new album in December time. - but I'm sure they won't let us down! :)

It's the mark of a great band if even their fans can't agree on which of their albums is better...

I might be in a minority here, but I absolutely love the new Lacuna Coil album. It seems to strike a healthy balance between Comalies and the more typically radio-friendly American sound of Karmacode, and everyone's playing well. Cristina's voice continues to get stronger with every album, too: there's some fantastic stuff on the new record. My only real complaint is that they seem dangerously close to settling into a rut - it'd be nice to see them stretch out a little bit with longer tracks and a touch more variety (probably why Unleashed Memories is still my favourite Coil album). Still, there's always the future. Based on my half-a-dozen listens so far, I'm quite impressed.

Within Temptation - I'm one of the awkward ones that likes the early and recent stuff, but not the stuff in the middle so much. I tend to agree with Tom that Mother Earth isn't all that great - and I love Kate Bush! It's not so much the vocal style for me, more the way the songs are all arranged quite similarly, and the production is really thick and dense to the degree that it all kind of mushes together. I think there are probably some great songs in there struggling to get out, but they're swamped by what has been done to them in the studio.

Favourite WT album is probably The Heart Of Everything - which would probably get me burnt at the stake over on the WT forum!

The lyric from Somewhere "Almost hope you're in heaven, So no one can hurt your soul", except im not a fan of hope, so I changed it to wish :)

The WT forum has been dieing for a while now, it tends to only get active when something is released, and its pretty boring nowadays, so im staying here :P

Lacuna coil are playing a pre Download gig at Camden Barfly on June 11th. Annoying that I'll miss it but will see them at Download.

Tickets likely to sell very fast.
